Quote from Dr. Lipkis on Bullying:

"Thirty percent of sixth-to tenth-graders are involved in bullying. This is a form of harassment. Both the bullied and the person doing the bullying are likely having problems with psychosocial adjustment. While this problem is quite prevalent, there are few proposed solutions on the table.

The following suggestions might be considered in sequence: (1) let the bullied student try to resolve the situation over a finite period of time; (2) consider having a student/teacher board resolve the problem; (3) involve the parents on both sides if necessary; (4) have your attornety write a letter to the parents threatening a lawsuit if the bullying continues. It is important to stop bullying before psychological harm occurs. Victims of bullying often become depressed later in life. Often bullies will become future criminals. Trained student mediators provide the best means to prevent and resolve these conflicts. Encourage your school to initiate a policy to address this very important subject."
